Animation based on the creation of 'Pepper’s Ghost’. Invented by Henry Dircks and produced by John Henry Pepper, who saw the effect set up at the Royal Polytechnic. Pepper received a lot of the credit for the invention and Dircks felt that there was a conspiracy against him to take away his invention. Pepper did try to give credit to Dircks for his invention but the effect became associated with Pepper. The phenakistiscope depicts Pepper and Dircks as ghost playing tug of war with a patent.
